So after cleaning my Collector Grade M48 from AIM I took it to the range yesterday and ran into a problem.

I put a stripper clip in and it stopped on the 3rd round, it seemed the first few rounds were not feeding properly into the mag. I had to spend about 10min on getting the 3 rounds out that were stuck in the mag because the follower was not moving up and down at the right angle and things were getting misaligned.

I tried loading it by hand and it does the same thing, after loading the first round the second round will not even go into the mag, it gets stopped since the follower does not want to budge at this point even though it looks to be straight up and down. After taking it a part it was installed properly, so this is not a part of the problem. So I installed the K98 magazine assembly and it works perfectly in the M48 when inserting rounds 1-5.

I took the mag assembly a part and the mag spring is bent enough that something does not seem right to me. I compared this mag assembly with the one in my K98 and they are pictured below. K98 assembly on left, M48 on the right.

What do you guys think about this Do I just need to buy a new mag spring Where do I get one if this is what I need Or is the problem something else

Springs are cheap enough that I would just replace it.

The bent spring is obviously causing the follower to tilt and jam.

Most Mauser 98 springs will work fine.  Buy them here:
