I thought with all this talk about Steyr Aug A3 and TPD AXR clone, I would show everyone a quick look at the MSAR STG-556.

I shoot an M4 as my Duty rifle at work but I don't have one at home so I decided to purchase the MSAR because of the Aug look and I have come to love the feel of Bullpup designed rifles.

I have only shot 40 or so rounds with my STG but it was flawless. It seemed to have less recoil than my duty M4 (14"barrel) and is smaller than it with the stock collapsed.

Here is a break down of the rifle- takes less than 30 sec ( I did not time it but it was fast and easy breakdown)

Great Two Rifles

My thoughts are this rifle is great. Very good workmanship on all the parts.

I have only two thoughts/complaints, trigger pull could smoother but I am use to PS90 so it did not really make a difference to me but who couldn't use a smoother trigger.

The black mags seem to fit tighter so they don't pull out as easy. The regular clear mags work better. I do wish it had drop out mags like an AR.

My next rifle is a Bushmaster/Magpul
Masada or Scar if I can afford it.

Congrats!

Mine is almost as short as my 10.5 SBR.

I've never had a single malfunction in any of these rifles and each is pushing the 1k round mark.
I am leaning toward the STG556 as my fave right now.

I was so close and buying the FS2K. I went with the STG because for the price of the FS2K, I will pay for the STG, a decent optic, a few mags, and a sling.

Nice SBR AK-Joe!

DO this to improve your trigger a LOT :

www.microtalk.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=176

and then I put a little bit of heavy gungrease on the trigger bar and where it rubs against the plastic and it helped a bit.

The trigger is a LOT better now. Crisp release on the top of the pull,

+1

Wish I wouldn't have spent my money this weekend a LMT upper, Ruger LCP and Kel-tec PF-9.  Of course two of them are used as molds for making holsters, which will help me buy my STG-556.

I just shot mine last night and realized another drawback aside from the trigger.  The flash suppressor sucks!!!  With Federal XM193A, the flash would sometimes be suppressed to a dull orange glow, but most of time, muzzle flash was like a strobe light.  Anyone know of other flash suppressor options?

I like the Vortex (http://www.smithenterprise.com/products06.html).

I have two, one on an AK and the other on a M14.
Already toying with pinning a Vortex on either a Steyr or a TPD due to Michigan law.

Unless the Vortex is offered in 13x1 metric threading, you aren't going to be able to mount one.

Yeah I definitely need something other than the stock flash suppressor.  I feel like I'm in a disco shooting at night.

Do you have the old style tulip type or the new Jagdkommando style flash hider.

The tulip type is discontinued, this is the new one.

Check this review, this is where this photo came from.

Yup old school tulip.  Here is a pic of a friend shooting my rifle.  Mind you this is at ~7PM EST and there is still plenty of sun.  Unacceptable.  I may have to try the King Arms muzzle device since they offer it in M13.0 x 1.
