....need to scope a new M1A for 300 yd targets and have leupold 6.5-30X40.

Will any of the favored mounts such as the ARMS 18, or Smith allow the use of irons and if so, which rings might an experienced user suggest?

As usual, all input is appreciated.

You can use your iron sights with just the smith mount. The ARMS#18 you have to take the scope off ARMS makes QD rings and QD bases for the #18. The Smith run about 200.00. The ARMS with rings about 260.00 or mount and base 320.00. I like the #18 it's a low profile and good weld

I've got a Smith Enterprise Mount on my M1A and REALLY like it. You can use the scope or irons without removing the scope.

I got mine directly from Smith Enterprise for just under $200/shipped.
