the high low setting would be PRIME for this.
alot of times my m1 is a little too much for indoors close up stuff.

hurry up surefire!!

ETA: how hard is the clip to remove? I know SF probably says it voids the warranty but mehh.

if its like any of the others, you just take the lamp and o-ring off and it slides out.

I need this......was gonna get an Inforce WML IR to mount to my OPS-CORE helmet, but I think I'll wait for this.
Link Posted: 8/21/2014 9:03:16 PM EST
After all of the WML battery drain issues the WML is something I would not even consider. This looks like a great light.

Vic, why not just mount an X300V instead of using the V1 and VTAC mount?

I figured the attraction to the V1 would be hand held use.

You probably have a personal helmet for every illuminator on the market.

We need some screen shots of the M1 vs V1. Ny 14 is 2500 miles away right now.

Clickie tailcap is king helmet mounted. Put a QD mount on the illuminator and the versatility of helmet mounted or handheld is wonderful. I have been running M1-IRs this way for several years.

That's awesome about it being a tailcap clickie, but it doesn't have a high AND low setting? Just basically on/off high?

Hoping they would being the Defender style tailcap over to their Vampire series. The tailcap clicky is way better than the twist cap on the V2 and has both high/low capabilities that are VERY easy to use.

Hmm looks like I will be replacing my helmet mounted M1 for one of these. How does the hi setting on the V1 compare to the M1 in brightness and distance?

This V1 sounds way cool from the published specs.

What is the mount diameter? It looks to be like the E-series at ~0.800" versus the ~1" of the M1.

Would you mind burning up a fresh 123 to verify the continuous runtime on IR high?

Thanks.

At ~0.800" diameter, I guess that means buying a QD mount from my "good friend" Mark.

Can you check to see if this V1 clicky tail cap fits on their V2 vampire? I hate the twist cap on the V2 and would LOVE to get a clicky tail cap for it.

Confused why I would wait for a V1 when I can get a V2 with better output now on Amazon, for only $25 more?

ETA:

OK I see it is 1 battery vs 2 so it is a little more compact.

The V1 looks to use the same diameter body as the Scout and E-series, which is smaller than the V2.

The correct size clickie tailcap for the 1" diameter bodies like the V2 is Z59 . I just tried the one that I usually run on my Torch Pro on my V2, and it works just fine.

ETA -The clickie tailcap will not have the lo/hi feature of the standard V2 tailcap.

Thanks for the info guys. I think having high/low is more important than the clicky feature, although I really really want the clicky tailcap on a V2. Just makes way more sense.

The choice of Hi or Low IR output is long overdue and worth its weight in gold.
More often than not, high output is way too much here in the woods.
