I'm looking for a new PC in direction of a more conceal / lightweight design.
I have narrowed down to Crye Precision's JPC 2.0 and Airlite EK01. Is it possible to attach, with firm fit, magazine pouches on these Crye PCs without a plate inside them? Also, is the Airlite's Material solution really that stronger conventional materials such as 500D, 750D and 1000D? Or is it just some marketing stuff going on here? For standard 10x12 plates what size is Crye's size chart like? I understand that the size follows the plate and not your height and weight?? Any info would be appreciated. :-) |

Why would you run a PC with no plates for lo-viz use-or any use for that matter ? There are better options such as chest rigs and belt systems
Most plate carriers are sized on actual plate size - typically a large fits 10 X 12 plates. Keep,in mind , most are designed around ESAPI/SPEAR plate cuts/shapes |
Why would you want a Plate Carrier if you're not carrying plates
Most of the structure of a PC is designed around plates, which allow proper weight distribution. They also don't breath and are much bulkier compared to a simple chest rig. You CAN attach pouches without plates, but why would you. If you're looking for low profile, try the Airlite chest rig instead. Blue FOrce Gear also makes a similar setup called the Rackminus |
At the moment I have a Tasmanian Tiger MK2. This is a plate carrier but I use it without plates. The inbuilt magazine pouches works flawlessly with or without plates. Problem is when plates are needed MK2 can only take a front plate as the back piece is open and has nothing than straps. So in short I'm actually looking for a lighter version of somehting that performs equally well with or without plates that also has room for a backplate. |

Get a straight up chest rig since you're not using plates. There are a lot of ways to rig up a chest rig to a plate carrier so you can use the same setup, with or without plates. For instance, I have a TAG Banshee that I can mount a Haley D3 Chest Rig on. I can either mount the chest rig to the armor, or wear it by itself when I don't need the armor. |

Quoted: Aren't they for sale on the LBX site right now? Quoted: Quoted: I would pay a stupid amount for a LBX Armatus in Mas Grey. Anyone have one to get rid of? Aren't they for sale on the LBX site right now? |

What about something like this Spiritus Systems?
It's a minimalist chest rig that can be attached to a plate carrier if you want using side release buckles. Check out Mayflower RC they have a few and some have side release attached to the front. Be aware that some of Mayflower RC stuff is made for proprietary armor cuts from Velocity Systems but they have some less obvious carriers i.e. no MOLLE when worn under a large shirt. |
