Finally found the .269 LS I needed.  Put it in the vise with a piece of wood on the other side and started turning.  It's down to about 1/8" left and it won't go any further.  No matter how much I tighten the vice, it's just cracking the wood.  It looks to be lined up properly with the recess, but it just wont' seat that last little bit.  Any suggestions?

Tap it with a small hammer and an aluminum or brass punch.

I beat the crap out of it, still won't go in that last little bit.  Any other suggestions?

Drive it back out and take a look at it. It may have galled on install.
I always  use a small bit of action grease to lube the LS.

Drive the shoulder back out, turn it around and make sure the head fits in the recess in the reciever.  They are often a little big and require a little dremel magic.  I drive them with a roll pin punch that has had the tip ground to fit the dimple in the LS.  +1 on a little gun grease also.
