How short of a barrel do I need, to keep bulk .22 ammo subsonic with a Ciener kit?

I use a 5 1/2" barrel on mine. Occasionally I get a loud one, but most stay pretty quite. I mainly shoot Federal bulk thru my Ceiner.

as long as i do not use stingers i shoot all day from my 18in cz with High Velocity with no bullet crack.
There is a minimum Length were you stay sub sonic any then get a longer length Then you enter super sonic then after get past a certain length again it goes back to sub sonic. At least with .22LR
I'm sure im explaining this ham handedly.

I get 1100+ fps. with any of the "bulk pack" stuff through a 5.5" barrel.

I used to have a 10/22 barrel cut to 4" that would keep everything subsonic, but the gun wouldn't cycle reliably without a silencer installed.

I went to a 5.5" 10/22 barrel and I'll shoot subsonic ammo when I want to be quiet.

btw, I get the same results when shooting from a 5.5" 22/45. A 4" 22/45 cut to 4" keeps everything pretty much subsonic, and unlike the 10/22, it still cycles well without the can.

5 inches the norm, but that ammo is really the problem. I have found that its far to inconsistant to be worth using if you are wanting reliability. CCI is expensive compared to bulk pack promo ammo, but CCI is as reliable as 22LR ammo is going to get.

Also, people think that a 5" barrel is too inaccurate. I am not an accuracy junky, but I can hit squirrels in the head at 50-60 yards easy with a red dot sight with my 5 inch barreled upper. Of course if the squirrel is running, I have been know to put the selector on full auto... which is perfectly legal here in Arkansas.

Winchester Dynapoint is subsonic. And bulk boxed.

Unfortunately it's not always easy to find, and definitely doesn't have the "bulk box" price tag.

That's if you can find a Kmart any more.

Last time I found one with them in stock, I bought out all they had... both boxes.

I use alot of the Fed Bulk pack ammo and it stays subsonic in my 7" AR15, with a few cracks here and there, just enough to mention but not enough for me not to shoot it.

I would say maybe 5 in 100 shots go supersonic.

My Buckmark is chopped back to 4.5". The only thing that goes supersonic in that is Stingers.
