I have an FAL type rifle with and STG-58 parts kit on an Imbel Receiver. I wanted to confirm the legal model designation. My belief was that the marking on the left side of the receiver

Fz SA 7,62

is the model designation.

I want to make sure that I keep my registration documentation free of errors that could come back to bite me later.

You are correct. That is the model number.

No that's the caliber.....just like some say FN FAL 7.62 or 308 Match...it's just in Portuguese because it's from Brazil...I don't know if true imbels had a model number....

Thanks for the input. I did record that string of text as the model, and it looks like my decision was correct. According to additional information that I have found, Fz SA 7,62 is an abbreviated form of the Portuguese for "7.62mm Semi-Automatic Rifle" and has had the effect of being a model designation, with derivations used on certain configurations.

If I remember rightly, M964 is the model number of the Brazilian FALs.
