I just got a new AR-15 and need to know what scope is good for this gun.  It has the handle top not a flat top, 20" barrel.  Thanks.  CDNN has a sale on now so if you have access to a Shotgun News and see one that will be good, let me know.

Thanks.

1. What type of shooting will you be doing?
2. What is your total budget for scope and mounting hardware?

I wondered this myself recently and about the best solution I could arrive at, for a reasonable price, was the Burris compact series.  I didn't want a scope that would overhang the handle by a ridiculous amount, but it had to be of good quality.

You should be able to pick one up from Midway for less than $200.  Be sure to get a good carry handle mount; there is a lot of crap out there.

I've got a Colt 4x20 that works great. it doesn't sit too high because the thing mounts right on top of the carry handle, not an inch above it. I like my aimpoint comp m xd better though. even though it has no magnification, you can acquire targets much faster from 0-250 meters.

You might look at a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40.  You can get it with a mildot reticle and matte finish.

ACOG, great scope for the appliaction.but that depends on your budget.

also try IOR M2 and maybe even a Weaver 1.5-4x is a good less expensive alternative.

Guys, I am a target shooter.  I am in the $200 price range for scope and mount.  I won't be hunting with this gun or anything like that.  I have larger cal. guns I hunt with.

Thanks.

I bought a Simmons 44 magnum 6.5-20X44mm with target turrets from SWFA for around $100 over a year ago. I shoot almost every Sunday. It has held up well and I hardly ever have to look in my spotting scope to see the hits.
