I have been using My Benelli M1 with a Modified choke for both slugs and shot. Seems fine.
Is there a limit to how much choke should be used? Is there an optimal Slug choke?

With rifled chokes, you can shoot them out of almost any choke. I wouldn't shoot them out of a Full or more though.

I shoot rifled slugs out of either a modified or improved cylinder, depending upon which shotgun I'm using. With a bead sight on a 26" barrel I can get ~2-3" groups at 50yds, and in the woods here I get most of my shots <25 yds.

Some of the 12ga 3.5" high brass will bruise your shoulder/cheek.

I've heard it said that Modified is best.  Basically anything Modified or looser will work.

I shoot slugs out of my 18.5" cylinder bore Benelli.

I am a bad shot and I can shoot 2" groups at 50 yards.

Put someone good behind my gun and you could damn near make one hole.

I've always had the best results with Improved Cylinder.

I have been wondering this myself.
