Hello folks. I need some help. I was shooting my GSG-5 yesterday and something was definitely wrong with it. It started jamming almost every 3-4 rounds which never happened before. Than all of the sudden something strange happened. You can cock the gun but, when you pull the trigger nothing happens. It is like the safety is on, but the safety is NOT on. Anyone, have any advice what to do? Should I dismember the gun? Anyone, have this happen to them before? Before this day, the gun was perfect. Any advice? Any details of breaking the gun that far down to see what the problem is?

Dont dismember the gun, but go ahead and disassemble it, and make sure there is nothing jammed or caught up in the trigger group. Also check the bolt for any foreign debris that could block function..

Unload gun....drop magazine...cock gun.....push up on magazine hold open lever...pull trigger...if this works you have lost your little mystery spring.

Make sure all screws are tight - especially inside the trigger group housing. See breakdown in the stickies to get to these.

I figured it out and I also learned a lesson. The whole trigger assembly was covered with foul dirt from the 22 rounds. I never seen it this dirty before. I am wondering if the last time that I had cleaned the gun that I put too much oil in that area, which helped the dust and what now STICK to that trigger assembly. I went to walmart and I have never used this product before called Gun Scrubber, but these hunters that were there told me that they use it all the time. I went home took apart the gun as if I was cleaning it and I sprayed this product on it. It worked awesome. I got all that crap off. After I wiped all the crap off the trigger worked perfectly. I went ahead and used that product on the rest of the gun as the hunters stated that they did. Worked great. Now a question to you all. You guys use this, and do you use some oil after using this product? The one hunter stated that he does not even bother to use oil after he uses this product. I did put some oil to the areas that move. But only a small amount.

You're on it. Oil lightly always and wipe away excess the next day. Q-tips are my #1 cleaning tool. Check those screws!

how are the q-tips workin' out for ya?  i tried them in the past but they left too much lint and got snagged on everything.  at work we have tougher and more durable cotton swabs that don't fall apart so much.  they only have one tip but come on a long, thin wooden dowel which is nice to use cover with a patch and get in-between smaller areas and i can even crack the dowel in half and create a sharp end to get into the smallest of crevaces.

Glad you figured it out,

You must have used an awful lot of oil in there,I shoot a brick almost every time I shoot my carbine and have never seen that area dirty like you describe.
Gun scrubber works very well but Be Careful with it around certain plastics,it has been known to melt some of the cheaper plastics/polymers. The same company makes a similar product but it is labeled PLASTIC SAFE. Or if you are just cleaning the all metal breech block good old fashioned brake cleaner works good too but it WILL melt plastic,So use it carefully.
