I am interested in purchasing a Russian capture K98 Mauser to use as a shooter.

I intend to refinish it, to make it look as original as possible.

I'm not real comcerned with matching numbers, but I would prefer that original markings not have been defaced, and that the wood be salvageable.

Can anybody point me in the right direction as far as a source for these rifles goes?

Also, for rifles that are missing small parts, what is a good source for replacement parts (front sight hoods, etc)?

Thanks for any input.  After seeing multiple threads regarding refinishing M48s and such, I'm looking forward to this project.

Call around, pay a few more bucks for a RC with the proof marks intact.  Stop by Barnes and Nobel and get a Shotgun News.  Going rate seems to be around $199 to start, up to 800 - 900 for rare markings.
