am going to attempt to build an oven. I was looking at buying a 350W Infrared Food Warmer and using it as a heating element. Will that be enough power if i put it inside a confined space? I have seen shop ovens good to 400 degrees done w/ 250W elements, but I dont know if the food warmer works different.

Also, what is about the minimum temperature and time for curing for GunKote or Norrels.

Thanks!

Infra red is hard to control when working with a temperature sensitive epoxy base like GK.  Your better off cannibalizing a small electric grill or oven and using a thermocouple or other accurate thermometer to gauge your temp.  I forget the specific temp but its in the 325-400 degree range.

Not trying to be a jerk, but there's a Refinishing forum under the Armory section.  I'm sure they'll give you lots of great suggestions over there.  I just saw a very cool post the other day about just this topic, but I think it was on another board, and I can't find it, sorry

IR is fine provided you have adequate thermocoupling of the "oven" and a good feedback control system (even if that means you are staring at the readout with a cup of coffee).
