I've got insurance through an NRA affiliated program, are you an NRA member?  It's pretty reasonable prices, but haven't heard of other people's experiences with them...

I use Collect insure.  They only require a list of any object worth over $5k.  They do not require the serial number, but I did have to list my M16 RR and Barrett M82A1.

You just tell them how much your collection is worth and they tell you what the coverage fee is a year.  They are very easy to deal with.  They have a form you can fill out online.

Info on the NRA endorsed policy.

I can personally say I had to file a claim on this.  They were very easy to deal with and paid out quickly.

Just started a policy with them as well, I listed all my items but only SN's on the NFA and items over $5k. Price is about $20 per $3000 coverage a year. So $60 for around $9000 coverage isn't to bad. Probably less depending on how big your safe is or if you have a central alarm system.

I also insure with collectinsure and end up paying about $6 per year per thousand of coverage.  Very easy to deal with - that is, they give you a quote quickly and answer the phone when you call.  I'm hoping they're also good with claims should the need arise.

I use USAA valuable property insurance.  $243 per year on almost $20k worth of weapons and accessories.

Exactly, I hope I never have to find out. They really recommend you keep detail photos and a log of all your weapons to show proof of ownership just in case you do have to file a claim.

Another satisfied USAA member.  $8K worth of coverage for about $75 per year.

I have personally used Historic Firearms with no complaints for at least 6 or 7 years. (Granted I have never had a claim either)

http://www.historicfirearms.com

Rates are much better than traditional insurance companies when I went shopping years back.

My current policy for $150K runs me about $550 a year.  Scheduled monthly payments of $45ish bucks a month makes it easy to manage with no checks to send in or payments to remember to make.  No appraisals need on any gun worth less than $50K.  Just set up an autodraft and autorenewal and forget about having to manage much of anything other than adjusting the value of the policy upward for new purchases.

Which reminds me I need to give them a call to up coverage as it's been a while.

Good luck with whatever decision you choose.

I just got the valuable property insurance last week from them.  It was easy and seems like a good price.

On another forum I frequent that is local to my area, we had a get together bbq and poker game. The girlfriend of the guy that hosted was an State Farm insurance agent. She was able to get me a renters insurance policy for $14 a month, and a separate policy to cover my firearms, that came out to be $4 a month.

I'm sure that does you a lot of good when they are home, and you aren't.

Just curious, my I upped firearm coverage on my homeowners policy to some value that costs me 50 dollars a month.......

Looks like I could have way more coverage for much less from the mentioned companies.

Is it legal to have double coverage?......say get $30k from two different companies, for a potential double payout?

Or, is that some kind of fraud?

I ain't looking to make money on it, I'm more interested in making sure I have the money to replace my stuff in a "volatile" market.  Where an insurance company may tell me an AR mag is worth 10 bucks, but it costs 50 bucks to buy one......remember the ban days?

I don't see why not, you can have multiple life insurance policies.
