Does anybody have any lever gun related books you recommend reading?

I'll start with: 'Shooting Lever Guns of the Old West' by Mike Venturino. He covers Winchesters from the Henry up to the 1895 and their replicas , as well as Marlins from 1881 through 1895 including the model 93 / 36 / 336 and the current 1895. He includes reloading tips and info on traditional rounds ranging from .25-20 up to .50-110 , and even some of the early smokeless rounds like .30-30 and .30-40 Krag. An excellent read.

Old Dukey Lardo eh?
Mr. I only shoot blackpowder in blackpowder type firearms.

I have his books and I will give you a couple better ones if you like Winchesters.

The Winchester Book by George Madis

The Winchester Rifle Legacy by Clyde Williams

Madis covers ALL the good stuff about Winchester Firearms

Snooky covers loads mainly aimed for the later 86 and 92 rifles.
Good reading.

Actually lard-butt burns quite a lot of smokeless powder in Shooting Leverguns, but he doesn't hot rod them.

That's because he is a genuine 'purist' who preference is originals over repro firearms.
If I had his money I would not want to be blowing up my originals either.

Forgive me for kicking on you, Venturino twisted my hide when he decided to start calling himself "Duke".
You don't pick your own nickname and given a vote I would have called him shitbag venturino for that reason alone.

Marlin Firearms: A History of the Guns and the Company That Made Them
by  William S. Brophy.

Basically the Marlin Bible.

Here's a good one that I've found recently: Standard Catalog of Winchester Firearms by Joseph M. Cornell.

It has 350 color photos, collector pricing for more than 700 models, and includes commemoratives.
