Ok just ordered an M44 from Ohio Rapid Fire as I figured it was a must for my first C&R. Now the Czech CZ52s that AIM has are really catching my eye Any info on these. Anybody ordered one from AIM is it worth getting the hand picked. As long as it functions and inst really banged up I don't need perfect thats part of my draw to C&R. Thanks

CZ52's are great.  Downsides are a weak firing pin, unreliable decocker (as in dangerous) and $35. shipping charge added to the cost of the pistol (must be shipped Overnight).

Hand picked, to most C&R dealers, means they grab the first five pieces from general stock and then pick the best of the five to ship.  The others go back into the general stock.  Theoretically one of the rejected four has a good chance of being someones "hand picked" in the next round and so forth.  I have always received great weapons from AIM without paying for hand picked.

Are replacement firing pins available? also do you know if its 35 per pistol or if I ordered 2 if it would be less.

I'm sure that if they packed them together you could get away with one charge.

Go here for more CZ52 info and parts  makarov.com/cz52/

My natural hold aimed down on mine, so it became half the $ for a CZ 75.
Otherwise a neat design and round (357 sig precursor?)
Hold it up, drop a pencil down, decock, see if it moves...

I bought two idnetical pistols at the same time from AIM recently.

For one pistol, it was $35.  For both together, it was $52.

No, I don't understand the logic.

I was at AIM last week and the CZ-52 they had in the counter looked pretty good, but I'd assume they'd put a good one out....

As for the CZ-52 in general, its a great pistol. I absolutely love mine. You will want to beware what surplus you get for it, though. I originally got some bad surplus for mine (probably Bulgarian) and it shot way off POI. Some S&B proved that the pistol does shoot POA and I just bought 1224 rounds of Romanian from AIM. No range report on the Romanian yet, but it has a MUCH better reputation. Looks good, too.

You aren't likely to find a pistol this inexpensive and fun to shoot for the price. EVen commercial ammo isn't too bad for it, if you shop around.

I love the CZ-52 and the 7.62x25mm cartridge in general. I'll be picking up a TT-33 tonight to go along with mine.

The CZ-52 is a really cool gun. It's action is really "ahead of it's time" IMO and allows great accuracy and a low bore axis.

The grip is a bit long from front to back, but I've actually grown to like it. The trigger is excellent and I shoot it extremely accurately, especially at range.

I'd get a replacement firing pin (Makarov.com sells stronger ones) and a replacement slide stop and pin for them, just in case.

Mags are a little expensive and somewhat hard to find, at least factory ones are. I have a couple of aftermarket mags from Sportsman's Guide. They work fine, but the follower is cheap compared to the originals.

Thanks for all the info guys I think I will be picking one or two of these up for sure does anyone have any exp. with centerfire systems? How banged up would a shooters grade sks be If I plan on changing the stock or refinishing it the wood condition doesn't really matter.

Wood is the least of your worries with shooters grade.  I'd be more worried about bore and barrel wear/corrosion damage.

But...the SKS is generally thought of to be a <100yd weapon and even a sewer pipe barrel, with a little elbow grease, can be cleaned up and shoot pretty well.
