[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Garand problem

Was breaking in a new Garand T26 in .308 at the range today. Using surplus military in new clips. Have used the same ammo/clips in other .308s without problem. Had the following consistent problem. Would be able to slow fire 3-4 rounds, then the clip would partially eject. What part do I replace? Thank you.

TM 9-1005-222-35, DS,GS and Depot Maintenance Manual, "Rifle,Caliber .30, M1 w/e (1005-674-1425)". Page six, "One or more live cartridges ejected with clip. Replace operating rod catch and bullet guide."

Who made your T26E1? Mine was converted by Smith Enterprise.

Sounds like a timing problem or a weak clip latch spring, have it checked with a timing gauge or gamble on changing bullet guide and latch spring and see if that cures it ...
