Hello,

I've found a couple G3 / HK91 .22lr kits, Will these work in my new PTR-91? I know about the 2" overcharge problem with a SA rifle (fixed by a piece of tubing I understand?)

The PTR does have a 18" barrel.

I have a ptr-91 and one of these kits and absolutely love it.  you already know about pulling the bolt back too far so your on track there.  get it while you can.  it will be one of the best investments you can make for these rifles in my opinion.  I installed mine and havent shot in .308 since.  mine has been very realiable and much more accurate than I would have imagined.  The best part about it is when I take it to the indoor .22 range.  Everytime someone will come up with a concerned look and tell me I cant fire .308 in there.  I swore one guy was about to have a heart attack when he saw me on the line with it.   anyway get it you will not be sorry.

I take my AR15 SBR to the indoor ranges with the .22 conversion kit installed, and pretty much get the same responses out of people. It's pretty funny.

If you don't mind telling me, where did you find them?  I was going to order one from Coles, but wanted to make sure they had one in stock before placing the order.  The asshole never got back to me and now they aren't listed on their website.

Thanks, I just ordered one from them.  Hopefully the shipping will be a little cheaper than their estimate of $27.95.  I can ship the whole damn rifle for less than that.

I would love to get one of these kits but they are so high priced!

Yeah but burn through a few bricks of 22lr for practice and it'll pay for itself while still letting you shout your G3 clone.

Will they work with a sear?

Yes they will. You may need to use a retimed hammer or a spacer to limit the carrier travel if the hammer sits too high.

Practicing what? How to work the cocking lever and trigger? He's not training to mitigate recoil. He's not training to adjust to the ballistics and accuracy of .308 in his weapon.

I'm sorry to be the voice of dissent, but I've moved specifically *away* from shooting .22LR conversion kits in fighting weapons. It creates unrealistic expectations of weapon behavior and accuracy, and forgives bad habits too easily. All that being said, G3 kits are rare and I'd buy one just for investment purposes.
