I recall reading on this board something about AR15's with free floated barrels, while more accurate, are not as strong or durable for field use than a non-free floated barrel.

True ?  why ?   It would seem to me that they'd be about the same. . .

Second point - Does anyone make a carbine length free float handguard that looks like a regular AR15 one and not a piece of aluminum tubing that's been fluted or checkered?
