Um.  Lots of options.  What is most important to you?  Weight?  Length?  dB reduction? Cost?  QD? Direct thread?

Suppressor criteria: length, weight, width, suppression, mount, price, and multi caliber or single use.

Not to sound like a dick but there are 27 pages in the suppressor forum with about 25 threads per page. Did you even try to search or browse before you posted?

How about this:

I have also been shopping for a first suppressor. I was very intrigued by the YHM Stainless 5.56 Phantom M2 QD based on the low sale price and good reviews.

Would this be a good solid buy for a first suppressor? I would use it on a stock carbine-length semi-auto Windham Weaponry R16M4A4T or a S&W M&P 15 Sport.
I'm not ruling out an SBR build in the future, but funds are limited at the moment.

I am new to the suppressor world also. I just bought my first suppressor. It's a Harvester 30 model. It's rated for anything up to 300 Winchester Magnum (WM). I bought it because it was only $600 and it weighs only 11 ounces (less than a pound!). It felt so light in my hand, and it probably won't change the point of impact when I put it on my AR15 because it's so light. It's not good for sustained rapid fire or full auto because it's so light, but I think it's great. I haven't been able to shoot it or take possession of it yet because I'm waiting for the tax stamp to come back in the mail.

It's not a bad choice at all. It wouldn't be the popular/fashionable choice here, but they make a really nice product. The price is right, the QD system is excellent, it's rated down to 10.5" barrels, and the customer service is all you could ask for. I don't have the 5.56 version, but I do have an LT and a ULT.

Any concerns about the rifles? Is it pretty much plug-and-play or do I have to worry about specific ammo, buffer weight, things like that?

I have been looking through this forum as well as others. I figured I would just come out and ask which people prefer. I would like the suppressor to be well balanced (weight, length,Db)  I figured I would run a flash hider.Since I am not sure which suppressors I'm not sure which mounting system is best. Price point does not matter, I would rather spend more to get the best for this set up.  Is the new surefire a go, kac,,or what other options would be best.  This will probably be a 5.56 dedicated.

No initial concerns specific to those hosts. Get a YHM muzzle device on each one and have at it. Won't know how it runs until you try it.

YHM Stainless Phantom 762 was my first can. I just started paperwork on a YHM Phantom ULT 3 years later. If I had spent just $300 more and gotten  titanium I would not have to buy another can. Weight is a big deal on an SBR for me. Spend a little more and get the lightest can you can afford so you don't have to buy another one later. The original Phantom was 28 ounces though. I think the current SS is a little lighter.

It's true that the Phantom is not the sexy choice or the current fad, but I have been very happy with the QD for both 308, 300BLK, and 556. My only complaint was weight.
