| I have been reading the forums and everyones recomendations on progressive presses and I have been leaning toward the Dillon 550B. Unfourtunitly, I'm at Camp Perry until Aug. 16 and no one here has Dillon presses. So, I decided to just go ahead and buy Hornady's Handbook of Cartridge Reloading 7th Edition and read up until I get ready to leave. What is everyones opinion on this book? I picked it up on commercial row for $28.00 after military discount. What other presses besides progressives would you recommend? |

Hornaday 7 is a great manual, so is the Sierra 5. For loads for 223 and 308 gas guns, these two manuals would be the ones to start with. You should match your bullets and reloading manual to the same brand. Hornaday, Sierra, and the other bullet makers only list their bullets in their manuals. I have the Dillon 550, it's a great press. The Hornaday progressive has a following here, I have no experience with it. I do have some Hornaday reloading equipment, powder measure and dies. Hornaday makes top quality tools. Hope you have been saving your brass. The beginner "how to for dummies" reloading book is ABC's of Reloading. |

"You should match your bullets and reloading manual to the same brand" This is very good advice.........you will find bullet weights vary from brand to brand. i have the same book and it is very informative with nice pics, i like the way they list the step-up scale for loads with appr. FPS. my lyman and speer manual does not list them.... only starting and maximun loads. |
