Hey everyone,

I am looking for a Microsoft Access (database) template for a firearm inventory.  I have scoured the internet and found a couple really good ones, but they are their own program.  I would rather have an Access file that I can access on any computer with Microsoft Access.  I have tried to make my own, but only get so far before I screw something up and can't make it work.  Can someone please help me or share their tips?

Thanks,

My wife is actually building me one right now. If anyone is interested in getting the template let me know. It will probably take another 1-2 weeks to complete. It will be an Access 03 template.

OOOOWW, YES!    I would LOVE that, should I send you an IM to remind you?  I made a few databases at my old job in Filmaker Pro; they had Mac's.  I haven't played with Access much, but I've got it and I've been meaning to mess around with it.  Your inventory idea is just what I need to get in and play with Access a bit.

AWESOME!    you da MAN!

I made one in MS Word where I have all the info like this...

Model

SN

Caliber

C&R eligible

                      Price paid

Current value

Description

Accessories

it's kinda morbid but I did it because my dad has no idea what I have, and I sorta need to start writing up a will.  That and we've far exceeded our homeowners insurance coverage.

I did along that lines, but I did it as a excel spreadsheet to keep the same coloums at the top.  I did it when I was doing up a power of attorney last year to let me family know what I had.  No pictures, just by SN; the tough part was the old battle rifles without the caliber markings.

Yeah I just made a table and entered the data in that way.  To make it look neater I got rid of the borders around the table so you can't see them.  It was the only way I knew of how to get around the formatting issue and be able to enter in a description as well as any other info (pictures included) in excell

I used Excel.  Not sure Access really gains you anything unless you've got a metric ton of guns.

+1

the program works but you can defiantly tell it is old. the way that it works is not like the way any modern program works. anyone with some thing more modern they want to share would be great.

I have downloaded the Gunsafe program and am starting to input all of my firearms. I have ran across one snag. I am able to edit just about every field if it doesn't have the selection I am after however I am unable to figure out how to edit the manufacture field. Does anyone have any idea how to add more makers to this field? There is in edit or value field to add additional names.

Thanks, I don't know how i missed that. It has it's own huge link. I had all of my guns added and complete except for about 2-3. I am talking hours of work. I was adding a photo and if you add a photo thats too large, it crashes. It crashed, then when I reopened it, the entire photo feature was corrupt. So I exported my database, redownloaded Gun Safe and then when I imported, I found out that it only exported my "Current Value" field for my database and thats it. So I am back to ground zero

after 20 minutes of playing with that program, i got the specific impression that if i kept going, i would have an experience like yours. so i gave up. nice to know i wasn't wrong, but sorry for your frustration.
