| A local gun shop for me has an FN-49 in what looks like pretty good condition, for $625 in 8x57. Is that a good price? Anything special about the 8mm over other ones? Is this one the egyptian Hakim? I don't know much about these guns, but it looks neat to me. |

The Hakim is a different rifle. Dennis Jenkins

That is not a very good price. Normally you see these in the $300 to 500 range and of course condition means the most. Look for replacement stocks and plastic buttpad. This will be condusive to a Century rebuild, but not always. The Hakim is a totally seperate bird as was stated earlier. |

No problem. Just to elaborate a bit more. The 8mm versions are Egyptian and are the most common in the states. There are 30-06 models from Belgium,Luxemburg, and I think a few others. Venazuala (sp) made them in 7mm and the Argentines made them in 7.65 and then a few into .308. SOG currently has a few of the .308 models.Price is too high for me though. I'm still on the lookout for a nice one in 30-06 to add to my 8mmm version. |
