Whose got one and what do they think? I know gunrag reviews aren't the most trustworthy.  But all seem to praise this one.  However, I can't find a whole lot of info on the boards about it.

I have one that has been great.

The downsides I've found are:

- Mags are expensive and were tough to get (I think it's better now) / they made their own mag

- They are not as easy as an AR to break down to clean

The good stuff

- Less felt recoil
- I'm getting sub moa with good ammo (mine is the 20" heavy barrel version)
- my best group at 200 yards is .88"
- my biggest group at 200 yards is 4.11"
- easily get 2.5" to 3" groups at 200 yards
- really is a lot cleaner after a heavy range session
- I liked the extras it came with to set it up for me

They are putting out a 16" version that I find interesting. I like the 20" heavy, but if I was going to use it differently (like heavy metal 3 gun) I think the light barrel and possibly the 16" version would make more sense.

I like mine and I'm glad I have it.

OP: I'm looking at one too.

A lot of haters out there (arfcom) because of:

1) Looks (looks count on arfcom, not on the range/reality)

2) Love for other .308's and there's no room for any other. (The FAL crowd skewered me for mentioning an FNAR as an alternative to a FAL!)

Otherwise, like you, I see the rags talking it up (somewhat) and like FN's reputation. I have a PS90 SBR and a FiveseveN. Both are excellent and have never had a problem.

I'm thinking about adding that FNAR 20" Heavy to the collection...

I was really looking at buying one last spring. I decided not to because I realy did not like the grip on it and it could not be changed. There were other factors but this was the one that sealed it. You will find a lot of very negative things from people here. For the most part, most people that have them seem to like them. FNH does make some very nice bolt action rifles so I doubt the FNAR would be any less.

What about the Winchester SX-AR?  Same thing, a few less rails but it is camo.  CDNN has those for $1100.

Most likely the very same gun with diff paint job. I think FNH bought the Winchester Brand but not 100% sure how it all worked out.

I believe you are right.  If so, this represents a good value (unless you NEED those side rails).  Do note that it does NOT come with a 20 round mag, only a 10, which, considering the dearth of magazines could be an issue.

I really like mine, very accurate and 20 rd mag.

Now you can get the mags, they were not available for a long time

I am personally looking to pick up one of the 16" versions.
I have an AAC SCAR-H SD suppressor that would look good on the end.
Any word on when they will be released?

I'm guessing that the only way to clean these is by the muzzle.  That does make me a little nervous.

What makes you believe this?

How could a cleaning rod be run the length of the chamber and barrel from the receiver (rear)?

Quit using a rod; get an Otis cleaning kit.

I have the 20" HBAR as well.  I love shooting it for sure.  Sub MOA at 100 yards for me.  This was the furthest distance I had available at the time.  Takedown is a pain, but you can't have it all.

I too have the 20" HBAR and love the accuracy of the rifle.  Not like most people, I buy what "I" like and peoples opinion around the forums I just take with a grain of salt!

I just found out there is a $150 rebate on this weapon!

Getting one this week!

Same here.  I was doing paperwork on a Armalite AR-10, and looked in the corner where the FNAR was leaning in a rack.  Changed the paperwork in short order.  I don't care if someone else thinks it's ugly.  Everyone that has touched it likes it as much as I do.

I think mine looks GOooOD!
Haven't shot it yet, saving up for a scope.

She may be ugly to others, but she's sure is beautiful where it counts!

I love my FNAR with light barrel.  I set it up with a Pentax Lightseeker scope and a Harris HBL bipod.  Fully outfitted, I think it's vfairly evil looking.  With bipod and scope, it's barely over 10lbs.  IMO, the ergos and build quality are very good.
