I'm looking at getting the DSA SA58 Carbine with the Extreme Duty Scope Mount.  I've been more of an AR person but am now venturing into FALS.  I've got a few questions:

1.  Will the Scope Mount obscure the open sight picture at all?  I.e. will it obscure the bottom part of the sight picture?

2.  What kind of accuracy (MOA) can I expect from this rifle?

3.  Can you recommend any other rifle with same quality that may be better?

Thanks.

1.  No, you can still use the irons with their mount.

2.  MOA varies,   figure around 1 1/2 to 2

3.  DSA is top of the heap , quality wise.

Is there any disadvantage of getting a Carbine vs 21 inch rifle?

Reduced Range / Velocity and increased Noise / Flash is about it.  Shorter barrels, all else being equal, are a bit more accurate.  They may be a little more picky about the gas setting they will run with as the dwell time is lower for the gas system.

Accuracy is decent to good.  I can't get 2 MoA out of anything but handloads and match ammo though.  Don't expect to shoot clover leafs with it, but it will hit a grapefruit easy inside 150 to 200 yards.

Scope mount doesn't impede the irons at all.
