Anyone had their rifle cryo treated? If so, any vendors that could be recommended?

Pricing I saw on-line wasn't too bad...like $50 for a rifle barrel and $10 for the receiver.

Curious as to how much of an improvement it made in people's rifles that had it done.

Don't laugh, I'm thinking about having it done to my Romy PSL, just to see how much accuracy I can wring out of it. Right now it's running 2-2.5 MOA

More than a few of my friends have done this treatment. I have not and have no direct experience. All of these guys are Prairie Dog hunters or benchrest guys. All claim significant accuracy increases among other benefits - cooling, for one. I forget all the other stuff they go on about when this comes up.

They all end up going with 300 Below. Something about how their process is different than other companies. Sending a bunch of my barrels to them is on my "to do" list.

Good luck!

ETA - I read your post again and saw the Romy comment. I want to get two of my FALs done for the same reason.

Racers do it on internal engine parts to relieve stress in the metal.

PSL barrels are pretty thin and have a reputation for stringing vertically when they heat up.  Would be interesting to see if cryo treating helps that.

Theres a guy on here that did just that with his PSL, and it did dramatically increase accuracy; after the third treatment.

Does anyone have any details on the process, as it relates to firearm parts? I have access to liquid nitrogen (−321 °F).

If I recall correctly the ones that cryo things always bring the temp down gradually and then bring the temp back up gradually as well.

I'm just curious how you got to that point!
