How do you remove the connector pin from an M1A/M14?

Using a pair of Vice Grips Pull out the small cross pin that secures the connector lock in the receiver. If that does not work you can shear the pin off by driving the CL out of the receiver. Drive the CL out  from the left side of the rec. using a drift punch.

The above will work as long as the pin is a USGI roll pin - DO NOT attempt to drive the connector lock out of the receiver before first removing the pin with vice grips if the pin is a solid chinese pin - you risk damaging the receiver otherwise .....
