I have a wasatch rig that i use with plates but I need another rig to carry ar mags. I think I want a chest rig that will hold 4-6 mags and a couple of pistol mags. I want to avoid the weight of the plates and use this chest rig over soft body armor.

I saw an ad for the SKD universal chest rig made by Eagle for $75

Does anyone have experience with this rig or any other they like....??

Thanks for any input....

I have one and it does not sag, I only load 4 ar mags in it instead of 8, 2 pistol mags a G-2 flashligh and a multi-tool

I agree... I only need it to hold 4.. and at the max 6.... If I need more then I'll choose a different setup.  This rig is gonna be my light, fast, gotta-go gear and I don't need it to hold a case of .223.

Look at the Eagle Chest Pouch (model CP 223). It holds 4 AR mags and two pistol mags. If you are looking for a low capacity, lightweight set-up, this is pretty good.

Thanks.... seems like a nice rig, I wish the shoulder straps were padded. Do you have experience with this rig..? Likes ? Dis-likes ?

I've got the Blackhawk copy of the Eagle chest harness.  My only complaint is that I never did take the time to get it adjusted where it was really comfortable.

There's no reason to put padded shoulder straps on it.  They'd add unnecesary bulk and expense to an otherwise lightweight simple, rig.  Besides, it doesn't have enough capacity to get heavy enough to need padding.

My one and only "beef" with this rig is that the straps kinda dig into your neck, but. Thats about it. Of course, this was experienced durning a five day carbine course (where you are wearing the thing all day long). For SHTF/grab and go situations, you probably would not even notice.

The trick to most all of that type of strap configuration is to load it up and get it adjusted they way you like.  You can then sew the point that the straps cross (on your back) into place.  You will have a more consistent ride that way and the straps will spend less time moving around and digging into your neck.
