Looking for a cheap vest or harness. Just something simple to hold some pmags.

Not "CHEAP" but some inexpensive GOOD gear.

EE is your friend.

I use the Specter Gear M1 Mk3

M1 Mk2

M1 Mk3

The Mk3 is great if you have some pouches already....
I put some black pouches on a tan chest rig to show an example of what you can do.  I use the tan one for carbine and the black for shotgun.

Enjoy.

If your looking for cheap and nothing else, look through Condor's stuff. Cheaper than Dirt has a bunch of those listed at <$50 price point including mag pouches.

Example

Ebay will also have vests for cheap.

If its just for range wear or the occasional tournament, these will hold up just fine. I would venture to say that even for preparing for the random bump in the night scenarios, they'll work.

For these kinds of uses, there is no practical reason to get anything better/expensive.

That said, I agree with the suggestion to go on EE. I got a nice tactical tailor modular plate carrier for $50. But another $70-100 in pouches, and it does add up.

Look for "FLC" (fighting load carrier) on EBay...they can be had for $10-$15, sometimes with molle pouches included.

There's also a couple of threads detailing use and configuration. One thread

AGREED!

Buy once, cry once......all I can say about "cheap".  Define your needs then get what meets your needs and your resources allow.  If your need is to stimulate the economy by constantly replacing your gear with crap, then CTD is your place.  The FLC is a good piece of kit and VERY wallet friendly.

Maxpedition's mini is a pretty good value.  Decent starting point with expandability and good construction.

One thing to think about.  Gear is just like the rifle.  You'll become addicted to it, your needs will change, your size will change, and you'll acquire more and more.  Buy good stuff.

FLC are all over for cheap, just add MOLLE pouches

Another Vote for the FLC. They top notch quality items and because they are surplus, they are still cheaper then stuff on the bottom end of the gear market. You can set them up to carry a light load for comfortable range fun, or load'em up to carry every piece of equipment you own (but i don't recommend it).

Kinda sucks that the mag pouches won't take 2 pmags.

I have a friend on a budget who is considering this right now but he is very large.
He is worried it wil not have enough adjustment.
How big a dude can this get around?

While I'm asking, I'm 5'6" 145lbs, 36in chest, 33in waist.
Can it adjust small enough for me?
The problem I find with vests like this is they don't have enough height adjustment for me.
