Ok, so long story short LMT FSBs are too tight of a fit and now I have a dinged thread on my AR barrel from trying to whack it on there after I shaved it into a low pro .  It's just a small spot on the very first thread about 180 degrees from where the thread starts.  Flash hider threads about 5 or 6 revs and then binds.  I ordered a 1/2-28 die today and plan on "chasing" the threads to clean this damaged area.  I realize that this has the potential for creating a cross-threaded situation and general badness.  Does anyone who has done this have any tips/suggestions on how to do it right?

Thanks,

Open up the die so it barely recuts the damaged area. Slightly tighten and repeat.
Or just ensure it is not crooked and go for it in one pass...
Someone will surely say to muscle the flash hider on, using it to reform the threads.
I vote go slow.

Try a thread file?

Just curious, but did you look at all before posting?

This is only about 20 posts down on the 1st page of this forum: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_49/397508_Fixing_cross_threaded_threads.html

I did a search but it didn't pick that up. Thanks for pointing it out.
