Will putting cat litter in a sock then sticking it in your gun safe really soak up moisture? Thanks. -Mike.

Make the safe airtight and it'll only happen once.

Very funny guys, but will it seriously work or not?

it will work, but it would be better to get some reusable dessicant bags or canisters. now your best bet is to get a dehumidifier and keep it in the room where your firearms are stored.

I had heard that standard wallboard gypsum can be broken up into chunks and heated in the oven to make an effective dessicant. Seems they used that as part of a process for a home-brew radiometer.

Swing by your local motorcycle shop.
Most throw away the dessicant bags that come in the crates.
Seems they are maybe 1-2 lbs pr bag size.
I get mine free this way.
