Yes it is... but for 60 bucks I'll clean my rifle... Most of the AP M2 I have seen has been a buck a round

Agreed. I am kicking myself for not buying more of that Talon (?) reman AP M2 back in the day.  It was pulled AP bullets in surplus brass & powder, and non-corrosive priming.  Only $5/20rds.  I only bought 100 rounds. Should have broken the bank on that stuff.

Link dead.

They had it for sale at the CMP eastern games.  There was some SL lots which based on the lot number should be SL 53 and not corrosive.  There was also some Norway sourced (AYR) that had 55 and 56 headstamps.  Not sure if it would be corrosive.

Yep, gone.  Did you guys see the link to the Gunbroker auction ... he only wanted $400 for a can that cost him $70.  Whattabargain.

Sold out already. Damn! I should have placed online order last night.

Get used to those prices since they are sold out now.  I have some on the way and will most likely wish I would have maxed out my CC in a year or so.  Wouldn't be the first time I wished I bought more when I had the chance.

When CMP runs out of 30-06 surplus, you are going to see $1 a rd or more for the ball ammo they are selling now.  More for any AP, tracer, or other speciality rds.

When CMP did run out near the end of last year, M2 ball was going for close to $1 a rd on gun broker and people were buying alot of it.  The only other option will be to shoot factory hunting ammo or some sort of factory ammo that isn't going to be cheaper then $1 a rd.

Wow, that went quick.  I put an order in last night for 3 cans and it went through, no out of stock / order cancelled e-mail as of yet.  Glad I was drunk and loose with the wallet

Sometimes, you just win!   I did the exact same thing - order sailed right through.  Then I read they are sending it in the wooden crates if you order in twos, and am already annoyed at myself for not ordering 4 cans!

Ah well.

Lol I got my email yesterday as well....luckily I had been checking the CMP board lately and ordered 4 cans and a belt within an hour of it being listed.

I might trade a can of AP for a few cans of regular ball
5/11/2010 7:55:07 AM EDT
[#18]
Also know that CMP requires an adult signature for ammo delivery.  That's cool if you can easily do it, but taking a day off of work to have a can of ammo delivered is a bit of a "pain".   If I ever order ammo from CMP again, I'll order a bunch to make it worth taking a vacation day.

Since a can is current .50/rd... "a few" (likely being 3 or more) would mean you want at least 1.50/rd while the going rate (gunbroker not included) is more like 1.00/rd.  Now, if you would trade me boxer primed non corrsive AP at the rate of 2:1 (cans), I would be interested as it would be a "fair" price.  Since AP ammo is in short supply, you likely want a better deal than a fair price to keep you interested.  At this time, I would tell you to list it on gun broker, unless that wasn't the case and you are willing to trade at 2:1 (I'll even cover shipping for both parties) and then you should IM me at your soonest opportunity.

I have 3 cans coming, and my only interest was cheap blasting ammo.  2:1 for clean noncorrosive in trade for a can of this corrosive stuff sounds like a good trade to me!

Or just reload your own?

I don't think I've shot more than two clips of factory/surplus ammo that I got at a gun show through my garand out of the hundred or so I've shot so far as I just got it.  Good news is that there's no shortage of once-fired brass

This. I have shot my dad's reloads my whole life. He's about to set me up with some of his old equipment he never uses anymore to do my own reloading.

I also got lucky with my first case..non-corrosive TW. Got one more that should be here soon. Looks like we got pretty lucky with this . I was searching around the web for prices on 30-06 AP and the VERY few places I have found it are going for 3-5x the price on what the CMP sold it for. Gunbroker prices on the cans are all hitting at least $200 and there was a full case that sold for $475. Other sources on the web have spam cans of AP selling for $375 each andindividual clips for 17.95 a piece.   Almost makes me want to flip one case and invest the profits in HXP. Just waiting to see what my other case brings before I decide........

I got my 2 cans of TW on Wed. and wishing I had ordered several more cases.  I don't think we will ever see those kind of prices again.

I ordered 3 cans, and got a mixed shipment.  One wooden crate of the non corrosive TW goodness - woot!   And the third, separate can, is AYR.  Don't really want the corrosive AYR if I also have the good stuff, so probably just going to trade out the AYR 2:1 for HXP if I can (or just sell it).

Well looks like the full case went for $410 on gunbroker....

Single cans hovering the $200 mark.

I have my second (last) case being delivered today. My truck needs new coilovers in the front so it looks like one of them is going to go.

At $400 a case, thats got me thinking of selling the two cans that I got.

My first two cans showed up yesterday. Both corrosive. The other ten are supposed to arrive today. Weird how the shipment got split like that in transit. They all left Anniston together.

Looking forward to seeing what I get.

ETA: Got the rest of mine. All corrosive, unfortunately. Oh well. Luck of the draw. Time to stock up on Windex.

My four cans should be here Tuesday. If they are corrosive I will be selling them. I'm rolling the dice hoping for the good stuff

OK, I received my case (2 cans) of the CMP AP ammo yesterday. I was hoping for non-corrosive but I got the corrosive and I think Berdan primed AYR stuff, lot 7.
I haven't opened either can but they are in great shape and give no indication that the ammo inside isn't either. From what I've read it should be AYR 55 headstamps.
I know I won't shoot it so, if someone wants it for $200 for the case + UPS shipping where it is not restricted, so be it. I won't split the case up.
Anyone interested, email me at [email protected]. I don't read this section all that often and don't receive notifications of posts that I respond to.

We know there is non-corrsive stuff out there and don't much want the corrsive stuff for the prices everyone wants.

The hyped died and the logical "we don't need AP" ammo also kicked in.

We didn't get to take the gamble since it sold out so fast, so we don't feel bad for you either.

Enjoy your ammo.  It is still cheap 3006 any way you shake it.

Price he is asking is good for just AP Bullets

Give it a few months you could probably double your price if you want and get it

It's paid for and it don't eat anything just sitting there.
I took a chance on what I would get and I didn't get non-corrosive.
Anyone waiting for non-corrosive '06 AP at a better price is living in another time period. It will be at least $1.00/round.

I didn't ask you to.
