So how long is it taking these days for the CMP to get the rifles out to their new homes? Just sent my paperwork in last Monday and I can't stand it any longer. Forgot to say that I ordered a service grade SA. My credit card hit today. WUHOOOO! Won't be long now. I'll let ya'll know what I get. |
| Last SG/S.A. I ordered, (about a month ago) took 10 days from the time I sent the paperwork in, to it being in my hands...Yours could be showing up soon...So, get the ammo loaded up on en-bloc's, get the cleaning supplys ready (the SG/SA's usually come lightly oiled, not heavily cosmo'ed)Go over to the M1 forum at www.jouster.com and at the top of the page, click on "Lane's tips" lots of info there,accuracy tips, things to look for on your new M1, gunsmithing you can do yourself...reading that should tide you over until the BWT shows up... |

Go to the CMP site and get their phone number (I don't know if it's ok to post the phone number here, sorry) and ask for Mary, she's great. She'll be able to give you an idea. I mailed off all my paperwork in mid February for a Dane SG SA and I am now 98 on the waiting list. |

Finally got it. Only took 17 days from mailbox to delivery. THANK YOU CMP!!! It is a 4.2 million SA/SG with about 98% finish on the receiver. Bolt marked D28287-19SA with B-19 below that. Barrel marked SA L6535448 3 53 A189A. Also has a larger in size "T" stamped to the left of that. The walnut stock and handguards are absolutely beautiful. They have a few very minor dings. I was thinking that I was going to have to refinish a stock, but this one I'm gonna leave as it is. Had to work this weekend, so I didn't get to shoot it. Can't wait. |

Received my Service Grade M1, this last Friday the 4th. So it took 12 days counting Monday the 24th when I dropped off the order. The serial number is in the 693,xxx. Which means it was made around the 4th of July 1942. Okay I'm not sure about the 4th part, but I can dream. I was probably close. The stock is a little rough, which is okay. I just figure it was use to bash in the head of a few Japs (sorry not P.C.) or Krauts. The finish of the metal is in great shape though. Still waiting for the 03A3, which I order last Monday. Maybe it'll show up here by this Friday? ED |
For a Smith Corona "S" Stock (no pistol grip), the rifle was $425 and s/h is $20.95. As I stated in my earlier post I ordered my 03A3 last Monday the 31st. Sent it Priority Mail. CMP processed the ordered on the 3rd. But since they don't ship so the gun sit's over the weekend, they shipped it this Monday and I got it Yesterday. I couldn't believe it. 8 days counting the day I dropped it in the mail box. Took all day to clean the cosmo off of it, but it is a beaut. Will post pics of it and the Garand later today. ED |
