You mean the household cleaner CLR?

I sure wouldn't.

If the rust is heavy, I soak bores in Kroil for up to a week in PVC tubes, shaking the tubes every day. Then scrub with a bronze brush, copious amounts of Hoppes #9, a bunch of  patches until they come clean and a heavy coating of CLP for storage.

Kroil is amazing on rust if you give it time and doesn't harm the metal at all. I put the PVC tubes in the summer sun too to speed it along. You won't believe the crap that stuff can get off without damaging anything (Well, anymore than it's already damaged).

Then just dry the barrel and shoot it!
