| Was looking up the magpul rifle from future weapons (saw the show again and it reminded me) and see its the Bushmaster ACR now. Other than a bit of reading online, does anyone know much about them in the ways of price/availability/timeline...? |
| I have one - no significant issues. Wouldn't go full auto no matter how hard i tried. Can't break the barrel cam thing no matter how dumb I am. Did get two free Mags from Bushmaster when I sent it back to fix the full auto problem that I couldn't get it to manifest. |

Take a long look.... The ACR is having some significant teething problems. Define significant? Well, there was the recall..... then the 5.56mm function problem (*I think there are 3 different gas regulators out now). Broken barrel ratchet handles. Magazine overinsertion problems. None of these are necessarily fatal flaws, but they are significant, and do, IMO, point to a weapon system which is still immature. I didn't say he shouldn't buy one. I just think he ought to take a long look at the kind of problems he might experience, especially since Bushmaster's CM team seems to be frequently MIA right now. |

Would you buy a first model year car?
I personally wouldn't. When I bought my XCR I made sure I had the most recent version. Bugs fixed, little upgrades already done. It was worth it; mine's a real beauty. Sure, significant testing goes into prototypes, but real world experience off the assembly line always will turn up problems. I'd give it two years or so. Maybe by then they'll also have caliber conversions available. If you really want it now, I wouldn't talk you out of it, but you should go into the purchase knowing there is a possibility of problems. |

The recall problem isn't an issue anymore. I haven't heard about magazine overinsertion issues. The gas regulator issue is an easy fix and HOPEFULLY they will get smart and switch to a single unit for high, low, and suppressed. |

A number of people have a problem with magazines overinserting if inserted on an open bolt. Doesn;t seem overly common, but not isolated either. Travis Haley is supposed to have mentioned this problem as well. |

Buddy of mine found his enhanced for around $1700 As for my experience with the platform...it can be found here http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=28&t=195200 People can say what they will but I have had significantly fewer problems out of my ACR than I have out of any other platform. I love it but maybe I just got lucky |

I got one a few weeks ago: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=2&t=343574
So far I've been very pleased with mine. The prices are dropping on them so I wouldn't be surprised to see them under $1500 in the not too distant future. |
