Would it be much cheaper to build my own AR, or would I merely get the experience from it? I'm planning on buying a standard A2 Bushy for $700, and I'm looking for a way to save some money...if anyone has any ideas to earn some money, that'd work too (keep in mind I'm a freshman in High School so selling my body is out of the question ).

Excuse me for asking (because I don't know) but are you old enough to own this firearm?

My guardian is ok with acquiring the stuff, just like with all the guns I don't own.

Edit: No, I'm not 18.

My friend is also considering this, but he wants to go all Bushmaster. I don't mind, as long as its high quality.

I recommend to everyone to buy a complete Bushmaster lower half (only) from their dealer, and then order their upper seperately.  If you want, you can order just the stripped lower from your FFL and build the rest yourself.  But doing it this way allows you to order the upper (the important part) in any configuration you wish, with any options you wish.  Almost all factory configurations come with the needlessly heavy (but cheaper to produce) HBAR barrel profile, which I don't like.

Anyway, you may not save money by doing it this way vs. buying a factory configuration, but you'll get exactly the rifle you want the first time.
