Anyone know of a gunsmith that can install a new recoil buffer in a Browning Auto 5 / Remington Model 11?

I'm sure you're aware that the buffer is held in place by a rivet that has to be drilled out and orginial fiber buffers are almost impossible to find.  Shooting the gun without the buffer could lead to a cracked frame.  Recommend you look at Remingtons Authorized Service Center list and contact them to see if they can do the work.

Yes, I was hoping someone was making new buffers of some sort. The shotgun is a beauty but I don't want to damage it.

Buffers can be bought at sarco for next to nothing. Finding a gunsmith that can do it will be the challenge. Sarco actually has quite a few factory replacement parts for the old model 11. Roy Dunlap talks about the process in his book Gunsmithing. Unfortunately one of the processes is making the tools needed on a lathe. I used an industrial epoxy to hold mine in. So far it as held up and stayed in place for close to 700 rounds.
