I obtained some once fired Remington 30:06 brass that I attempted to size using a Hornady full length sizer. I can't get them to go thru my sizer. The first case wouldn't go past the neck unless I put a LOT of pressure on it. The result was a case with a constriction at the opening, (see 1st pic) I could only get the sizer part way down before I got what was clearly too much resistence.
I then took out the decapping rod and tried another case. I tried sizing in little steps, I got the die to go down until there is about .180" sticking out of the die and then it stuck for good. The cases were well lubed with RCBS Lube-2 and mica in the neck. I measured the diameter of the cases, .466 right above the base and .343 at the neck. My question is are these cases blown out from too hot loads and can't be resized? The other thing that I can think of is that this is a brand new die and II forgot to clean off the rust preventive coating before using it. Could the factory coating cause the cases to stick?

Try some Imperial Sizing Die wax or Dillon spray. Bag the mica.
If you know someone with a die you might try your cases in that die. Measure the diameter of the expander ball. It should be about 0.305 to 0.306 inches diameter. How does the finish inside the die look? |

'Borg Now that you pointed it out, it does look like that case was crimped instead of sized. OP, be sure you are using the sizing die. The one that has a pin sticking out of it. Looks like you ran the case up into the bullet seating die. |
