I am looking for some boots I can play 3-gun in and do various other things while they look somewhat nice. First of all I am former military with bad knees so the lighter the better. My summers and winter boots became my work boots in a mechanic shop I work at, so no go on looking nice. I have a pair of converse that are all kinds of torn up just form a RC package to Afghan train-up so unless their quality has been improved I am not interested. I have looked into the New Balance/OTB boots and was hoping someone had some feedback on the bushmaster series of boots. I have used the "search" and have only found a OTB jungle closeout thread so any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Please note I am not set on buying any boot just yet and hoping to get some real world experience feedback for some boot choices. I have had my last summer/winter issued boots for 4ish years so if I can get a lightweight boot to last a year+, the cost does not worry me.

Do you need boots, and how good do you want them to look? It doesn't get much lighter than a pair of Palladium Pataugas. I wear mine around town, as well as out in the bush. If you're set on boots, I love the fit and feel of my 5.11 8" boots. They're really light and comfy.

The OTB closeout is on all OTB brand boots (new balance), they are rediculously light while still offering a good amount of support compared to other sneaker style boots (Nike, Converse, Under Armor, etc.).  Prior to buying the OTBs I wore Under Armor Valsetz at work.  I broke a toe by simply negotiating an obstacle course wearing the UA boots, which I chalk up to the soft sole and lack of a supported toe area of the boot.  I also have worn the Oakley boots in Iraq, and went through a pair about every 3 months.  If they weren't free, I'd have never bought a second pair.

I love my Danner ICH's. Great all around boots.

Have you looked into "hiking" style boots? You can't go wrong with the comfort and performance level out there.

I wear Converse boots at work, but would love to wear my Merrell Refuge Core Mid's instead. Plus you can wear them out and about and no one looks twice (unlike military boots).
