Sorry if this is brought up frequently.

Where are you guys buying your ammo ? Is there a good on-line supplier that has a real good selection of .22LR ammo ?

I am particularly interested in the various subsonic stuff. Locally all I can get is Remington Subsonic, which is OK but I would like to see what else is out there. I also want to buy some of that Agilla SS 60 grain stuff. I have a couple bricks of it but want to possibly buy a case of it. I ordered that 1:9 twist threaded 10/22 barrel from Tactical Innovations made just for that heavy bullet. If it works out I will be buying a larger quantity of ammo for it.

Source for good quality ammo.  Quality is not cheap.

None of that ammo suits my needs.

I am shooting this ammo through a variety of suppressors and I don't want a bare lead bullet. I want a copper washed bullet.
Remington subsonic (which is what I can get locally) is a bare lead bullet. I want something plated, thus the reason I am looking for sources other than  local.

Not much response to this request. I guess everyone either is shooting Eley or the stuff from Walmart ?

I did another search phrasing it a different way and found a place selling 5000 round cases of Aguila .22 SSS and I bought one. I think I was spelling it wrong. Funny thing about spelling stuff wrong in a search engine: a lot of the time, there are a significant number of other people who also spelled it wrong and you get a bunch of information back, in this case articles and stuff about people using the ammo but none selling the ammo. I got a brick of the stuff I already owned and typed in the word Aguila spelled correctly and immediately got back good results. Funny how that works.

If you are going to be shooting this ammo through a suppressor, I would ask this question in that forum.

I don't remember why, but I distinctly remember that you should NOT shoot Aguilla SSS through a suppressor.

I use CCI Subsonic or CCI Standard Velocity (stays subsonic) through my Pilot.

ETA: Here is a thread going on now about .22 ammo through suppressors.

Thanks for the reply.

I didn't really think my question was suppressor specific, it was just about where people are buying their .22LR ammo. I figured there were a bunch of rimfire fans here with the answers.

"I don't remember why, but I distinctly remember that you should NOT shoot Aguilla SSS through a suppressor."

The reason is because this ammo uses 60 grain bullets as opposed to .22LR solids which normally use 40 grain bullets or .22LR hollowpoints that normally are 38 grains down to as low as 32 grains. The 60 grain bullet is not only heavier, it is also much longer than a "normal" .22LR bullet. Therefore the normal rifling twist in your average .22 rifle has difficulty stabilizing the 60 grain bullet. Most run of the mill .22 rifles are something around 1:16 twist. As I noted in my original post, I recently purchased an aftermarket 10/22 barrel from Tactical Innovations that uses a 1:9 twist barrel and is specifically designed and built to stabilze these 60 grain Aguila SSS bullets. The barrel is also threaded.

Are the CCI bullets you are using bare lead, or copper washed (like CCI Mini-Mags). High Velocity .22LR ammo WILL go supersonic in this 16" barrel.

Thanks for the link, reading it now.

EDIT:  I just went ahead and orderd a case of that CCI Subsonic from Midway. That isn't what I wanted (bare lead bullet) but, I will be shooting it through a muzzle can that I can disassemble for cleaning.
I have two .22s with integral suppressors and I ONLY shoot copper washed bullets out of them: CCI Mini-Mags

I have one of the Tactical Innovations 16-inch barrels as well plus I have a TAC-65 supressor on transfer so I am in pretty much the same boat as you but I have not really started a search for ammo.

I wish I had your problem.  Unfortunately my state does not allow such devices.  Good luck in your search.

Quarterbore, I am presently using the TAC 65.
I also recently ordered a Tactical Innovations Quest.

I bought my last 10,000 rounds of .22LR through the CMP.

The PMC ammo they had is gone, but they do have both Standard Velocity Centurian and Golden Eagle Target ammo for $128 and $207 for 5,000 rounds.

I also bought 10,000 rounds of the Russian surplus .22LR from Sportsmans Guide.
