Ok, I have not got the rifle yet––and it might be a long time if ever.  But, I am a person that needs the use of an Aimpoint/Eotech/Red Dot sue to loosing some vision in my dominant eye.  I was looking through the forum here and saw a Scout and a Bush that I like where the Aimpoint/sight is placed, it was forward of the receiver.  My question is this possible on a full length rifle?  I saw where the Ultimak offers a handguard that would allow this too but it seems to much rail space for a Aimpoint etc.

If you got pics of the red dot optics mounted on your M1A/M14s/M14 please post up and help push me over the edge

Thanks

Unless you get it into a "Scout" configuration the Aimpoint will be very high over your buttstock comb, prompting chicken-necking and inconsistent cheek weld.  The Ultimak and the Knight are probably your best options for getting it relatively low and co-witnessing your irons.  This is using a mount that attaches to the side of the receiver using the mount slots and the stripper guide (not my rifle):

I picked up a scout mount and handguard; they fit my usgi profile barrel (22" Saco Lowell married to an Armscorp receiver).  My Aimpoint knockoff (Primary Arms) sits up a little; I added a 3/4" cheekpad.

I will run an Aimpoint on my M21A5 with a standard profile barrel as soon as I install the UltiMAK M8.
This combo will not require a cheek riser and I will be able to co witness my iron sights.
