Wish the graph the graph went back a few decades, it would be really interesting to see.
The internet really helped get NFA more main-stream.

I would REALLY be interesting to see what the graph would look like if they would re-open the MG registery.

I bet they would be so popular they would never be able to ban them again....

Does anyone know what this graph refers to?

"Number of NFA Firearms Processed by Fiscal Year"

Why are there 10 times the amount of NFA firearms processed, than forms processed each year? I would think there should be at least 1 form for each firearm, or more because some would be form 3'd from dealer to dealer before a transfer.

Are Mil/LE firearms considered NFA and included in these numbers? Or does this number refer to something completely different?

A Form 2 has eight lines for newly manufactured NFA firearms.

U.S. military firearms are not in the NFA Registry, thus no forms to be processed.

LE/U.S. agency/export firearms, however, are in the Registry, so they get Form 2'd.

As noted, manufacturers can list up to eight separate NFA items per Form 2, and ATF has in the past accepted Form 2's with the notation "see attached list" to register 20-50 NFA items with a single Form 2. The same goes for Form 5 transfers from manufacturers to LE.

This is particularly common for such NFA items as flash-bangs –– each must be registered, but manufacturers do not need or want to file separate paperwork on each one. Same goes for Form 5's when transferring them to LE agencies –– the bulk approach works, and is preferred.
