Anybody have a preferred powder for loading the Barnes 53 gr. TSX in a 1:9 barrel. Just trying to find out what powders people are having the best luck with.
I have looked in my Barnes manual, but the weapon tested was 1:12.

Go to the barnes website and you can get free data on there.  There is not a lot data but it'll get you started.

I don't think the twist rate is particularly relevant.  The fact that the data is for 1/12 shouldn't matter.  You will, of course, be starting low and working up your loads properly anyway.

The data I have is from Barnes loaded to 5.56, the 5.56 data for the 53 grain TSX list a 1x7 twist barrel.

Bullet: 53 grain TSX......      Case: LC09 .......    COAL: 2.19 ......   Case trim length: 1.75

Primer: Fed 205 .......      Barrel length" 20".......  Twist rate: 1x7

Powder..............Min. charge..............velocity.............Max charge..............velocity............load density

H4895.....................24.6.......................2886....................26.6.......................3199....................101%

*TAC........................25.6.......................2958....................27.6........................3161....................93%

These are the only two listed powders on the data I have, The TAC list as the most accurate load.
