Simple question, what all bolt action rifles are on the market that take AR mags.

I know there is the Ruger American, but are there others?

Forget the Mossberg unless you plan to put a Timney trigger into it. Even then the mag fit is sloppy.  The one I had would go bang upon closing the bolt. The Ruger American is the correct choice.  There are other rifles that use other pattern mags like the Accuracy International 10 shot mag in Badger or Surgeon bottom metal.

FWIW I'd call the mag fit 'sloppy' in my .300bo Ruger Am. Ranch as well. But runs without issue.

I'm guessing since there's no magwell. Some mags have less play than others but overall there's quite a bit of up/down play and can be rocked forward & back from the bottom a lot more than an AR magwell. And no issues with multiple brands of 10, 20 & 30 round mags.

So far the only mag that will hold the bolt open on empty are my magpuls and any mags with magpul followers. I don't care for that feature so I just filed the back of my follower a bit and now the bolt passes right over it. I can easily tell without looking when I close the bolt on empty.

I run Magpuls, Lancers, D&H, E-landers, CPDs, OKAY/Surefeed, & Fab Defense Ultimags no problems. Only one of the Lancers and the D&Hs are .300bo specific.

Never have had any issues with my Mossberg MVP TR.  Accurate and holds mags fine.

Pacific Tool and Gauge makes bottom metal that will allow any Remington M700 to use AR mags - with just a little bit of milling.

My Mossberg MVP is flawless and is super accurate.  Mags wobble a bit with 30 rds but I use 20's and 10's for the most part.

I don't have one and don't know anybody that does either... but I have heard of them based on reviews on Youtube.

I made your link hot.

Anyone make one of those for Ruger American Predator using the Ruger plastic mag?

I bought an MVP patrol with the M4 stock for my 8-year-old daughter as the stock can be closed for a really short length of pull. It one of my favorite rifles now, the factory steel mag wobbled a bit but magpul 10-rounders have been flawless.

I have had excellent results with my map thunder ranch. I prefer to use 10 round mags and never had a problem with feeding  and it loves 53 grain v-max and 60 grain v-max . I have also had good results with Speer 70 grain gold dots .

Another vote for Mossberg MVP Varmint, wasn't sure I'd like the stock until I shouldered it. It's a tack driver for sure.

I had no idea the Mossberg MVP was so popular.   Everything that I had heard prior to this thread left me with impression that they were hit and miss.

believe nothing you hear and only half what you see . tromp makes an aluminum mag well for the map 5.56 that tightens things up a it with higher capacity magazines . personally I have no issues using 20 round mags but its a bit un called for  as the 10 round lancers work great .

The 5.56 MVP I got my hands on was crap. Mags would drop out the fit was so sloppy, the fixed sites are cheap aluminum, the flash hider was not indexed, the bolt is not trued to the receiver and would bind.  The safety would also fail to seat fully into the "safe" position.

It would not feed, period. Rounds would not seat on the bolt face even if that little flap thingy on the bottom of the bolt managed to pick up the round, resulting in crushing  the case when the bullet jammed into the top of the barrel ring.

All in all, I replaced the magwell with the aftermarket Tromix, threw away the factory magazine, ( feed lips so sharp I cut myself) buffed the bolt  to remove that crap finish, lapped the receiver, cleaned up the safety parts with a buffing wheel, replaced the flashhider with a linear comp and replaced the magazine catch spring.  Now it  feeds about %90 of the time if you don't tilt the rifle too much.

After all that work and mounting a 2x7 scope, it's a rifle that will group 5" at a hundred yards off  a rest.  I can make somebody a hell of a deal if anyone wants the damn thing.

Go for the Ruger.

You have to consider the sources.  Are they accustomed to fine European sporting rifles or domestic factory production rifles ? Are they a fanboy of another brand of rifle ?

Does anyone make a left-hand .223/5.56 that takes AR mags? Closest thing I can find is the Ruger GSR, but those use AI mags.
