16" upper 1:9 twist-----looking for something from 3 to 300 yards----but can't afford an ACOG which is what I really want I am thinking of an Eotech or a LOW POWER SCOPE, BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOOD AND WHAT IS CRAP----ANY OPINIONS AND EXPERIENCE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED----THANKS ALL

I wouldn't use a EOtech for 300yards shooting. just my $.02

If you really want an ACOG continue to use the irons while you save for it. I used the iron sights for almost a year before I had enough money saved for my TA31F, I didn't buy a knockoff because I didn't want to waste what little money I did have, and I still enjoy using my BUIS because I am good at it from all the practice.

If you must get something, go with an Aimpoint or Eotech, and not a knockoff.

Save up for the ACOG. It fits your requirements.

TR21 Accupoint. More versatile than the ACOG for less money. It's only real drawback for most users is weight (over an ACOG).

I have a Nikon ProStaff 3x9 scope on my AR and it works great shooting at 200yds.  I haven't tried it at  much over that yet, but I'm sure it would work fine.  I have a Tasco 42mm 3x12 on my 7mm RM hunting rifle....and I would rather use my lower powered Nikon at long ranges.....it's MUCH clearer than the Tacso.

You should be able to pick on a Nikon ProStaff for under $200, maybe even $150.

I could`nt afford the ACOG so, I tried one of the T-168 6x32mm Illuminated Tactical Mil-Dot Reticle Scope for the AR-15 for 70.00 plus shipping and I heard you can find them for less on the net.

I use the scope on my gun for Coyote Hunting well past 100 yards and find it to be a great scope for the price. It`s lighted 11 position reticle works well in low light cond also. I can`t find anything bad to say about the scope at all and believe me I tried to find things to fault and I can`t yet!
There was a post in here from a GI that used it in Iraq and he beat the hell out of it and it never failed on him so I guess it was even battle tested?

I had my Car-15 with me at a gun show in PA 3 weeks ago I was looking for a light mount and had a guy ask me if I had any problems mounting it to the carry handle on my Car-15. I said NO WHY.
He said his would loosen up after each shot, till I spoke with him some more and he told me he was afraid to tighten the nut thinking it would break off h.gif??????????????????

Mine is torqed down and never moves, the unit also comes with 3 mounts too.

I just sold my Eotech 552 to fund an ACOG because it limited me to about 100 yards when engaging targets like jack rabbits and other small critters.  If I was kicking in doors for a living or engaging human size targets at ranges of less than 300 yards I would have kept the Eotech.  

If you really want a 1x optic to tide you over while you save for the ACOG you might consider the SPOT dot scope.  Apparently it offers a lot of what you get in an Aimpoint for a fraction of the cost.  If you are not staking your life on your rifle this might be a good option.  Grant at G&R will take good care of you.
