Ummm, I finally got my charging handle in today so I have a 100% rifle - I put it together a minute ago.

So, I pull the charging handle back on an empty mag and release, the bolt & carrier catch - but the charging handle stays put - extended out so I have to push it back in.  Isn't it supposed to go back in on it's own?

Also - does chambering rounds do as much damage to ya'lls bullets as it's doing to mine?

No, if the bolt/carrier lock open, then there is no tension on the charge handle.

If you use the bolt catch to lock the bolt and carrier back, then no the charging handle does not return on its own. Now if you hit the bold release, both the bolt+carrier and charging handle will return forward.

You're not using an M4 upper receiver with a standard, non-M4 barrel extension, are you?
