Im going to be mounting using a GG&G scout rail and Burris XTR rings on my AR-10 with a Magpull PRS stock(offers up to .6" of additional cheeck height) What height rings should I use that will work well with this setup? |

“Will 30mm rings work with a 1" scope?” Only if you have a 1” reducer, the rings just them selves no. The ring height I recommend for an AR10 is 1.375” center height this is with out a riser. If you have a 0.5” riser then the rings center height would be 0.875”. The highest center height I recommend for an AR10 is 1.45”. So based on what your saying: the .25 " rings would be ideal with the riser and a 30mm scope?? Since I have up to .6" of rise with the adjustable stock should I go with something a little taller? Where can I find 1" reducers for the rings? |

I’m not sure were you are getting 0.25”. If you do not have a riser 1.375” to 1.45”, if you have a riser subtract the height of the riser from one of the heights I have listed and that would give you the center height for the rings you need. Center height is from the top of the base to the center for the hole for the scope. http://www.burrisoptics.com/tactical2.html OK, so lets say that 1.45" is the total, subtract .50" for the rail which leaves .95" from top of rail to center of scope. Burris measures their rings from the top of the rail to the bottom of the scope ring "not the center" that being said lets assume 9.75" = 30mm which is ring diameter. Half of that would be 4.875" = rough radius of a 30mm ring. Now if I subtract the ring radius from the above .95" which was the distance needed from top rail to scope center I get .4625" which = the distance needed from the top of the rail to the bottom of the scope ring which is again how Burris measures their rings. So that being said I would need roughly a .5" Burris ring??..... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
