Before I screw it up I will ask the experts. Is there a way to remove scratches (not too deep) from triangular handguards?  I was thinking of trying water and extra fine grit paper.

If your going for the shinny look, use Brasso. Any grit sand paper is going to exspose the fiber grains in the forearm, and make it look worse.

If you want the dull look, then bead blast the grip, butt stock, and forearms to get them to match.

I painted my guards, buttstock and grip with matte black Alumahyde II from Brownells. Turned out great. Let it cure at least a week before reassembly.

Cheat, thats what I was thinking. Best bet, leave the scratches there. It shows charactor, and show that you actually might shoot "the gun".
