For YEARS I shot primarily with a couple guns topped with ACOGs. Had always loved them and thought they were an excellent general purpose optic. A few years back some scope companies started putting out some very usable low power variables which peaked my interest. S&B Short Dot, Night Force 1-4, Leupold 1.5-5, etc. Then I built a SBR that has an Aimpoint on it, and for the past couple years I have been shooting the Aimpoint gun and the Short Dot gun A LOT!
I reworked one of my older guns, changing the rail and adding a suppressor. This gun has always had a TA11 ACOG, and I have not changed that. After all the changes, I needed to bring it to the range and rezero. I doubt I have shot this gun more than once in the last three years. Shooting with the ACOG was great, and I was only one of about 3 people who shot the gun to comment on it. All of us had shot ACOGs, but not in a while.
This ACOG is an old model, probably more than 15 years old. The tritium is dimming when you look at it in the evening, but the glass is very clear, good field of view, good eye relief, bright daytime reticule... I think I'll be shooting this gun a lot more!
