Is there any set weight standards for buffers.  For example is the H type a set weight?  What about the others?  H-2 etc? I weighed a H buffer and it came in at 3.7 ounces.
The reason I'm asking I have a buffer in a bushmaster that is unmarked and weighs in at 3 ounces.  Wondering if going to a H buffer would help with the recoil which is rather harsh.

Thanks for help

It's a standard carbine buffer at 3 oz
H is 3.7
H2 is 4.6

The only way to see if an H buffer works for you is to try it

I tried an H2 after only having a standard for years and didn't notice the difference.

I have no problem running a carbine buffer in my LMT 10.5, but my 6920 has the H buffer. I honestly can't tell much of a difference but I feel like the "recoil" is less noticeable in the SBR due to the more control over it I have. Just a theory, unless I'm imagining things.

I really don't understand what the hype is about but I assume the reasoning was applied because of problems arising.

Many suggest the heaviest buffer that will still allow the rifle to function 100% reliably.
